We now have our first set of Draft Proposed Policy Options, April 2014, which will form the basis of the policies in the final Neighbourhood Plan. To make it easier to comment, we have identified 16 Draft Headline Policies

Application for designation of a Neighbourhood Area
The St Ives Town Council is producing a Neighbourhood Plan for the St Ives area. The first formal stage of the process requires the councils to apply to Cornwall Council for the Neighbourhood Area to be formally designated.

The St Ives Town Council has applied to Cornwall Council to designate the parish of St Ives as a Neighbourhood Area, in accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations 2012, which came into force on Friday 6 April 2012.

If this designation is made no alternative plan may be designated for that Neighbourhood Area until that designation expires or is withdrawn.

The Council is consulting residents and other interested stakeholders on this application. Consultation will run between 18th July and 29th August 2013. You can comment by emailing us at cornwallldf@cornwall.gov.uk or send us your response in writing to the address below.

Copies of the applications, which includes a copy of the application letter and a statement that explains how the Town Council and area meet the conditions of Section 61G(2) of the Town And Country Planning Act, 1990  are available to download below:

Results of the consultation held on Sat 29 June 2013 at the Love Architecture festival

A team of neighbourhood plan volunteers asked the visitors to the Love Architecture festival on Porthminster Beach what they LOVE about St Ives and what they would IMPROVE.

Love Architecture St Ives is a day of events and activities focused around Porthminster Beach and the town itself to inspire, inform and celebrate the buildings and places of St Ives; to raise awareness of the architecture and context of the buildings as a background to the town’s history; and to raise awareness of local RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) architects.

Topic Group Meetings

Topic groups are meeting during April and May to discuss the next steps forward for specific issues. A Chair is being appointed for each group, who will sit on the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group. The Steering Group will be formally identified towards the end of May, after the Town Council elections, to give incoming councillors a chance to get to grips with the neighbourhood plan process.

See Calendar for meeting dates and times.
